Work From Home – It Will Be Great They Said
Due to Coronavirus many of us don’t have a choice about going to our offices at present, but after we come through this, you may be offered choices to be more flexible in where you work.
Mobile operator EE has come under fire recently for revealing that from January 2022, they will be charging UK customers extra to use their phones in Europe.
Mobile operator EE has come under fire recently for revealing that from January 2022, they will be charging UK customers extra to use their phones in Europe. The BBC said that “Those joining or upgrading from 7 July 2021 will be charged £2 a day to use their allowances in 47 European destinations from January 2022.”
This has come as a shock to many, as EE previously stated that they had no plans to reintroduce roaming charges in Europe. Now, an important question arises – if EE has gone back on their promise, are other mobile operators going to do the same? The speculation is that yes, other mobile operators are expected to follow in EE’s footsteps and bring roaming charges back for their customers. This means that using your phone while on holiday abroad will get a lot more expensive, but don’t worry, there are ways around it!
The easiest way to get around roaming fees is to get a cheap phone SIM from the country you’re travelling to and get a Voice Over IP (VOIP) app, such as 3CX, to allow you to call people around the world without expensive extra charges.
VOIP, also called IP telephony, is a method and group of technologies that enables voice communications and multimedia sessions via internet. You can save money on using your mobile phone abroad, by downloading the app and using your local SIM’s internet charges, or ideally by connecting to a Wi-Fi connection around you. Many public places in Europe have free Wi-Fi networks which you can easily connect to, and then all you need to do is dial a phone number and press call! It works exactly like calling someone the normal way, except you would be using the internet instead of a mobile network.
This is a great way to avoid roaming charges and enjoy your holiday without unnecessary expenses!
